Web Site Design and Development .

Do you require more from your existing web site? Are you in need of a web site that delivers set goals for your organisation?

At Focus we’ve been providing web site design and development services to our clients since 1996.  Our user centered and engaging web sites are designed around your customers built using a programming language called Ruby on Rails by our in-house development team.

By taking a consultative approach to web site design and build, which can involve focus groups of your target audience for feedback on design and usability we can ensure that your web site is built around not only your organisation but also your target audience.

Accessible web site build meeting W3C and UK Government guidelines.

We ensure all web sites that we build meet W3C and UK Government guidelines. We have added a number of accessible features to our clients’ web sites including:

-          Clear controls to change font sizes throughout web pages.

-          Text only versions of content.

-          Integration with ‘text to speech’ software such as Browsealoud.

-          Web site testing with touchpads and implementation of keyboard shortcut schemes.

Content Management including blogs, event calendars and polls

Our in house built Content Management system is made of a series of modules that provide web site functionality for administrators; for example; if your web site includes a blog, you’ll have a blog module for managing that content.

This approach means that modules can be added at any time (including future phases of development) without extensive re-engineering of code and modules are consistent in their layout and architecture so that when a user is familiar with using one, minimum training is required to get up to speed with others.

Mobile site development

Mobile compatibility is an essential element for any web site. Building a mobile version of a web site isn’t complicated and doesn’t require extensive additional coding  - but it does require some thought due to the reduced processing power and screen real estate of such devices. We work with our clients to focus on ‘call to actions’ and ensure the actions can be completed easily within the given restrictions.

Specialists in the public & charity sector and online directories

We specialise in public and charity sector websites and have worked with many local authorities and charities on numerous projects. We currently work with Bristol City Council, Sustrans, Connexions West, Bath & North East Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council.
